Whether you are looking to improve your daily communication skills, want to open doors to better employment opportunities, or are looking to prepare for post-secondary education our Adult ESL program will help you achieve your goal.

During the course you will also develop computer skills you need to effectively function in today's culture of internet communication, online application, and job search. You will learn more about your local community from engaging conversation with guest speakers and will explore Canadian culture and history to prepare for the Canadian Citizenship test.

Upon successful completion of a course, you will receive a certification for Canadian Citizenship application.

Adult ESL classes may be offered virtually AND in person for the 2025-26 school year.

 

In person classes are scheduled to start in Alliston, Barrie, and Bradford.

Students enrolling in online classes will be required to have a computer (with a camera and a microphone) and a consistent and reliable internet connection.

 

Day Program - September 2025 to June 2026

 

Term 1: Sept. 8, 2025 - Jan. 23, 2026

Term 2: Feb. 2, 2025 - June 12, 2026

 

Night Program - September 2025 to June 2026

This program runs three nights per week.  Classes run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm to 8:30pm in Barrie.

 

Semester 1:  Sept. 9, 2025 - Jan. 22, 2026

Semester 2:  Feb. 3, 2026 - June 11, 2026

Who can attend free adult ESL classes?

An eligible learner for a free ESL program is an adult immigrant currently residing in Ontario:

  1. Whose first language is not English; and
  2. Who is eighteen years old ; and
  3. (a) Who is a naturalized Canadian citizen, permanent resident, Convention refugee or refugee claimant; or
    (b) Who is a provincial nominee, or their dependent, who has been approved through the Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program but has not yet been processed to receive permanent resident status; or
    (c) Who is a temporary foreign worker, or their dependent, who has been approved through the Canadian Experience Class but has not yet been processed to receive permanent resident status; or
    (d) Who is approved as a foreign domestic worker under the Live-In Caregiver program.
    (e) Who is in Canada on a CUAET authorization.

All other applicants are fee paying. Fees may vary and are subject to change without notice.
